The Power of Pink: Watch Vanity Doll Salon's Barbie-Inspired Demo

In our last blog post, we showed off how our Directions colour ambassadors Vanity Doll Salon (@vanitydollcolour) gave their colleague and fellow ambassador Lauren Yeomans (@laurenvanitydolls) her glamorous “Disco Queen” style at Salon International 2023.

But, we also promised to show you how Lauren got her incredible pink shades seen right at the start of that live demo recap. Well the wait is finally over! Watch below to see how the Vanity Doll team brought back Barbie-mania for this signature style, entitled “The Power of Pink”.

As one of the millions swept up in Barbie fever last summer, Lauren was over the moon to model this bold, iconic style – especially when she would be in the capable hands of her teammates at the Vanity Doll Salon.

Taking place at a dedicated colour pod at the HJ stand, Lauren’s fresh shades were mixed up and applied by Vanity Doll’s colour expert Ruth Wardle and creative stylist Amy Walker.

Stocked up with our studio-standard mixing bowls and tint brushes – the pink versions, of course – Ruth and Amy started work on the luscious, deeper reds at the back of Lauren’s hair. This was based on our fierce Pillarbox Red, blended with the deep magenta tones of Rose Red to deliver a stunning shine.

This was then followed by a brighter, eye-popping pink layer, created through a combination of our fabulous Flamingo Pink and lively Carnation Pink. These bold, bright colours went hand-in-hand to produce a shiny, flamboyant central layer, a perfect balance between Lauren’s rich red shades and her platinum blonde locks at the front.

A thorough rinse, blow dry and straightening later, Lauren emerged with a look packed with pink power. However, her transformation was only half-finished…

With Lauren’s hair immaculate and something the fashion icon herself would be proud of, it was now time to dress our Barbie Girl in an equally memorable outfit. Fortunately, she and her friends at Vanity Doll Salon had been working on an ensemble you wouldn’t be able to find on your local high street…

In collaboration with hair extension experts Remi Cachet (@remicachet), Lauren was lit up at the Treatwell stand in a stunning pink skirt and bralette combo made entirely of recycled hair! The ultimate blend of fashion and sustainability, this was the one-of-a-kind attire that her radiant new hairstyle deserved – it certainly wowed everyone who stopped by!

Bursting with the charm, vibrancy and power core to Barbie’s worldwide appeal, Vanity Doll Salon deserves plenty of applause for this incredible creation.
